Our recommended bonus bets

  • Villa v Bournemouth, under 1.5 goals – Both teams will be conscious of allowing themselves to be stretched in the second half and conceding late on, like they both did at the weekend. So we’re expecting both to approach this game with the target of keeping a clean sheet. (Best odds: 3/1 with 888Sport)
  • Brighton v West Ham, both teams to score – Both sides will fancy themselves in this fixture, so plenty of attacking play should see chances going in at both ends. (Best odds: 3/4 with Sportingbet)
  • Norwich v Newcastle, Pukki to score first – The Fin was prolific in the Championship last season and has already got on the scoresheet in his opening game.  He’ll get plenty of chances and will no doubt get Norwich off to a flying start (Best odds: 9/2 with Betfred)
  • Man City to win to nil, Sterling to score, and over 10.5 corners – If you fancy a bonus bet with a difference then check out SportNation’s promotion which returns 50/1 on this multiple selection bet.

Premier League betting tips for Saturday 17 August 2019

Aston Villa v Bournemouth

Kick-off: 3:00pm (BST) Saturday 17 August 2019

Venue: Villa Park, Birmingham

Villa made a good show of themselves in a tough opening fixture at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.  They got off to a great start and looked like pulling off the biggest shock of the Premier League’s opening weekend.

Despite being on the back foot for most of the game, Villa played with freedom on the attack and created chances.  More importantly though, the Villans were well organised and compact in defence, making life especially hard for Harry Kane.

Villa were tough to beat at Villa Park last season, and it’ll be a tough place to visit this season too.  In Tom Heaton they have a keeper who can win games with important saves.

Bournemouth had a terrible away record last season, winning just 5 games on their travels last season and losing 13.  Conceding a late equaliser last weekend to newly promoted Sheffield United just shows there is still a vulnerability in the Cherries backline.

We’re expecting Villa to be buoyed by their performance at Spurs and will pull out all the stops to impress their fans in their first home game on their return to the Premier League.

Correct score prediction: 1-0 (Best odds: 9/1 with MoPlay)

Acca selection: Villa home win (Best odds: 7/5 with Sportnation)

Bonus bet tip: Under 1.5 goals – Both teams will be conscious of allowing themselves to be stretched in the second half and conceding late on, like they both did at the weekend. So we’re expecting both to approach this game with the target of keeping a clean sheet. (Best odds: 3/1 with 888Sport)

Brighton v West Ham

Kick-off: 3:00pm (BST) Saturday 17 August 2019

Venue: Amex Stadium, Brighton

Brighton have been revived under new manager Graham Potter.  They played much more positively than they did under Chris Hughton.  They continued to attack after taking the lead and deserved their 3-goal victory.

Potter has brought in some decent young forwards over the summer, and the team will only continue to improve as his training starts to take effect.

West Ham got their season off to a bad start, allowing City to dominate and give them a mauling.  They’ll certainly see more of the ball this weekend, and will no doubt create chances.  Expect new signing Fornals to start and make a big impact on their creative play.

However we can’t see them getting the upper hand at the Amex on Saturday, against a revitalised Brighton with fresh blood and new ideas.

Correct score prediction: 2-1 (Best odds: 10/1 with 10Bet)

Acca selection: Brighton home win (Best odds: 8/5 with Betfred)

Bonus bet tip: Both teams to score – Both sides will fancy themselves in this fixture, so plenty of attacking play should see chances going in at both ends. (Best odds: 3/4 with Sportingbet)

Norwich v Newcastle

Kick-off: 3:00pm (BST) Saturday 17 August 2019

Venue: Carrow Road, Norwich

Despite facing the Champions League holders away from home in their opening tie, the Canaries kept true to their style of play.

You could call it naivety considering their opponents strengths in the wing positions, but pushing up both fullbacks in attack allowed Norwich to create 12 chances against the Premier League’s strongest defence last season. They were duly rewarded for their persistent style of play, scoring and winning the second half despite going 4-0 down before the break.

It will take a while for Steve Bruce to find his feet at Newcastle, so we expect to see even more conservative play like we saw against Arsenal.  If they continue to allow the opposition to come on to them, they’ll struggle against a Norwich side who have goals in them, across all attacking positions.

Correct score prediction: 3-1 (Best odds: 18/10 with Betfred)

Acca selection: Norwich home win (Best odds: 13/10 with Betfred)

Bonus bet tip: Pukki to score first – The Fin was prolific in the Championship last season and has already got on the scoresheet in his opening game.  He’ll get plenty of chances and will no doubt get Norwich off to a flying start (Best odds: 9/2 with Betfred)

Man City v Spurs

Kick-off: 5:30pm (BST) Saturday 17 August 2019

Where to watch live on TV in the UK: Sky Sports Premier League / Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Ultra HD

Venue: Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City continued their emphatic form from last season despite missing two key players in Aguero and Sane on Saturday.  They took advantage of a lethargic start by West Ham and continued to pile on the pressure after the break.

Spurs on the other hand looked rusty in the opening half in front of their home fans at their new stadium.  They had plenty of possession but made too many mistakes in the final third.  Notably, a hilarious moment in the second half which saw Moussa Sissoko’s shot go out for a throw in.

We’re expecting City to have the upper hand on Saturday evening, with a more nervy Spurs likely to find it tougher than the hosts.  With key players like Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and Ben Davies still missing, Spurs may continue their sluggish start to the season despite such an important fixture in their season.

Correct score prediction: 2-0 (Best odds: 16/1 with 10Bet)

Acca selection: Man City home win (Best odds: 7/19 with SportNation)

Bonus bet tip: Man City to win to nil, Sterling to score, and over 10.5 corners – If you fancy a bonus bet with a difference then check out SportNation’s promotion which returns 50/1 on this multiple selection bet.
